On August 25, the Department of Local Services’ Permitting Division welcomed more than 60 homeowners to the first Home Improvement Fair in Skyway—and what a night it was! Neighbors from Skyway and across unincorporated King County connected with home construction vendors, met one-on-one with Permitting staff, and packed the room for a standing‑room‑only Permitting 101 session.

A huge thank you to our dedicated DLS staff, participating vendors, and every community member who helped make this kickoff event such a success. Your energy and enthusiasm set the tone for an exciting season of home improvement support.

If you missed it, don’t worry, there’s one more opportunity to hear the Permitting 101 workshop, meet with DLS Permitting staff, and get to know local vendors for your next home improvement project.

The next Home Improvement Fair is Tuesday, September 29, in White Center from 6–8 p.m.

Join us at the Technology Access Foundation (605 SW 108th Street, Seattle) to explore vendor displays, attend the Residential Permitting 101 session at 6:30 pm, and get personalized guidance from our friendly King County Permitting staff on your home, property, or questions about land use.

Whether you’re in the early stages of planning or ready to begin a project, this free event is designed to help you take the next step with confidence.

See you in White Center!
