We’re looking for dedicated, community-minded residents to join our Community Advisory Board and co-create the Department of Local Services’ 2026 Participatory Grantmaking process. This community-led funding process builds on the success of the Participatory Budgeting program over the past several years. Board members will design the Request for Proposals (RFP) process and create outreach and engagement plans.

Applications are now open! Apply by Sunday, June 7, 11:59 p.m.
If you need help applying, please email ukcpb@kingcounty.gov or call 206-477-4000.

As a Community Advisory Board member, you will…

  • Design the Request for Proposals (RFP) and community engagement strategies.
  • Help make sure that residents, especially those who have been historically left out in government decision-making, are meaningfully involved in identifying and prioritizing community investments.

Board members will be paid $50 per hour for attending scheduled meetings.

We’re looking for people who…

  • Live, work, go to school, and/or worship in—or have strong ties to—the urban areas of Skyway/West Hill and White Center/North Highline
  • Care about fairness, equity, and community voice
  • Want to help shape decisions that affect their communities

Other ways to get involved…

In addition to joining the Community Advisory Board, residents will soon have opportunities to:

  • Serve as a Participatory Budgeting champion to share information and opportunities with diverse communities
  • Become a proposal reviewer to review and rate proposals based on impact, equity, feasibility, and community benefit
  • Attend information sessions and share feedback
  • Work with technical assistance providers to develop and submit proposals that address local needs and community-driven solutions
