We’re making great progress on the upgraded septic system for private properties in the Fall City Business District.

Since our October update, 14 new septic tanks have been installed and connected to the underground on-site treatment plant. This means wastewater from homes and businesses is now flowing into the new tanks and being pumped to the treatment facility for processing.

The project is being completed in phases, as shown on the map below. We’ve completed the properties in Phase 1. We’re currently working in Phase 2, which includes properties east of Preston-Fall City Road and moving into Phase 3 in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, the underground treatment plant is operating. Take a look at this beautiful sunrise over the completed area:

Installing septic systems across multiple properties is a complex and disruptive process. It involves heavy equipment, noise, and dust. There will be intermittent road closures or delays through June 2026. For the most up-to-date information, check MyCommute and sign up for Road Alerts by visiting the King County Manage Your Subscriptions webpage and entering your email address or mobile phone number for text messages. Check the Subscriptions Zones Map to see the different alert zones.

We truly appreciate the patience and support of everyone in the Fall City Business District as we work to improve local infrastructure. The project will repair all failing and non-conforming systems, and the new system will provide capacity for conservative growth in the business district and treat waste to the highest quality standards required by the Washington State Department of Health.
