Private properties in the Fall City Business District will start getting much-anticipated upgraded septic tanks and connections to the new underground on-site treatment plant, thanks to a successful inspection by the Washington state Department of Health.
On Oct. 10, the state approved the newly installed underground pre-treatment facility and the adjoining drainfield. This means King County can start replacing the old septic tanks on 46 private properties in the business district with new tanks that will pump wastewater into the new treatment facility. The treated water will then go to the drainfield located in Bernard Memorial Park.
“King County, local residents, the state, and the Snoqualmie Tribe have joined together to build an innovative and sustainable solution to a problem that has persisted in this community for decades. The new septic system will benefit the environment, public health, and the economy of Fall City.” – Shannon Braddock, King County Executive
The county will now dig and install tanks on individual properties and connect each tank to the larger system. This work will be done in phases through June 2026, starting with the properties to the west of the Preston-Fall City Road SW.
“We are so excited about these first tank installations in Fall City’s new septic system, representing a major investment in the businesses and residents of Fall City. We’re thankful for the engagement of the Fall City community in this effort to ensure the health of the community and wonderful businesses while safeguarding our local waterways.” – Councilmember Sarah Perry, District 3
“The state Department of Health approval is a significant milestone for this project, and we’re excited to start connecting private properties to the system over the next few months. We appreciate the collaboration with the Fall City community to make this project a success.” – Leon Richardson, Director, King County Department of Local Services
Residents should plan for road delays or closures through June 2026, when the project will be complete.
