David Garcia has found a rare and fulfilling balance between his career and his personal passions.

He is a transportation planner by day but spends most of his free time outdoors, exploring mountains, lakes, and forests with four-legged pal Winston close in step.

David is drawn toward adventure, culture and new experiences. Understandably, he has moved around quite a bit. After growing up in the bustling, diverse Bay Area, he moved to Guatemala to gain a closer connection to his family’s culture, language and land.

There, he developed a profound appreciation for the country’s natural beauty, particularly the stunning volcanic crater lake of Panajachel (to any jetsetters reading this, David says Panajachel is a gorgeous visage and must-see if visiting Guatemala).

After two years immersed in the vibrant, colorful landscape of that country, David returned to the states to receive a university education and a graduate degree in urban planning. He then took his talents to Texas, working in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex as a transportation planner.

Though he’s been with Roads Services team for only a few months, his focus is clear: improving urban infrastructure while safeguarding the environment he cherishes. His work on ADA compliance for pedestrian mobility underscores his commitment to accessibility and inclusion, all while protecting natural ecosystems and ensuring future growth is sustainable.

His career in urban planning is a natural extension of his desire to preserve the outdoors while improving the built environment, making him a champion of environmental preservation in all aspects of his life.
