Two members of the King County Local Services team recently received some much-deserved recognition for reaching impressive milestones in their public service careers.

Our own Bong Santo (Sto.) Domingo and john miller were honored by King County Executive Dow Constantine and the King County Council for their decades of service.

Bong, a Community Liaison, was recognized for his 45 years in public service, including the last 27 with King County.

john, who serves as our Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Team Manager, was honored for his 25 years.

Please join us in congratulating Bong and john for their dedication and reaching these career milestones.

Below are some highlights of their careers:

Bong Sto. Domingo (45 years)

Bong immigrated to Seattle from the Philippines right after college in 1978.  He worked for a year in the City of Seattle’s Public Health and then as an Engineering Aide in the Transportation Department. He transitioned to the department’s first ever graphic design team, where he was tasked with redesigning all the department’s collateral print materials.

In 1983, Bong switched careers to Outreach and Marketing for Seattle’s Human Services Department. Two years later, he accepted a position in Seattle’s Department of Neighborhoods, assigned in the unincorporated area of Shoreline as a community services representative.

In 1996, Bong started his career with King County in the Department of Community & Human Services, where he was tasked with organizing community groups in the unincorporated areas.  These are many of the same groups that King County partners with today. Bong now serves as a Community Liaison for the Department of Local Services, working in the communities of White Center, Skyway-West Hill, Enumclaw, Vashon Island and East Federal Way.

Bong is a proud father of two boys and grandfather of five kids – three girls and two boys. He enjoys playing tennis and pretty much all racquet sports – except squash and badminton! He also plays guitar, draws and paints.

“Working for local government throughout these years gave me a perspective that I wouldn’t have seen or experienced elsewhere,” Bong says. “It’s a huge honor for me to be recognized for my years of service – honestly didn’t realize it was that long!”
